Patrick Holo, born in 1948 in Cape Town, South Africa, is an artist known for his work during and after apartheid. Self-taught, he transitioned from various jobs to full-time art in 1974. He was involved with the Community Arts Project in Woodstock and later co-founded the Nyanga Art Centre in 1978, where he taught art. His art often depicted social issues like unemployment and injustice. Holo studied in Italy in 1981 on a scholarship, which influenced his work. Despite challenges, including the eventual destruction of the Nyanga Art Centre in 1990, he continued to contribute significantly to South African art, focusing on community education and social commentary.
